Overview
In our lab we aspire to create the next generation of rehabilitation and assistive technologies that restore mobility and independence for individuals with neurological injuries or limb loss. We aim to bring cutting-edge robotics out of the lab and into the real world—bridging the gap between innovation and impact.
Our work is guided by four core pillars: Evaluate, Restore, Assist, and Connect.
Evaluate: We design robotic tools and non-invasive neuroimaging systems to better understand how the brain and body recover after injury. We also study how people use rehabilitation technologies in everyday life to inform more effective, user-centered design.
Restore: We develop smart, adaptable therapy devices that retrain both movement and sensation—making rehabilitation possible not only in clinics, but also in the comfort of people’s homes.
Assist: For those with significant motor impairments, we create robotic systems that enhance arm and hand function using state-of-the-art mechatronics and intuitive control strategies.
Connect: We are committed to designing affordable, minimalist technologies that expand access to care—particularly for underserved populations, including those in low-income and global communities.
At our core, we believe that rehabilitation should be personalized, accessible, and empowering. Through engineering, design, and empathy, we’re building a future where everyone has the tools they need to move forward.
